GECOM urges registrants to uplift outstanding national ID cards

THE Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is urging individuals who have completed registration transactions but have yet to collect their National Identification Cards to do so at the earliest opportunity. This advisory applies to persons who applied for new registration, requested changes or corrections to their registration details, or sought a replacement ID as far back as 2008.

GECOM acknowledges that some registrants may have changed their addresses since their initial registration, which might have resulted in difficulties retrieving their ID cards from the original registration office. To address this issue, affected individuals are encouraged to visit the GECOM Registration Office responsible for their current area of residence to request their ID cards. The Commission has assured that arrangements will be made to transfer the ID cards to the appropriate Registration Offices to facilitate their collection.

The distribution of ID cards is ongoing at all permanent GECOM Registration Offices across the country during regular working hours. Offices are open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and on Fridays from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
GECOM emphasises that registrants must appear in person to collect their ID cards. Individuals who have not yet done so are encouraged to visit their respective offices promptly to ensure they have the necessary identification for official and electoral purposes.
