A FIRE of unknown origin has destroyed the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL)’s Diamond Complex Power Station.
According to information from DDL and the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), a fire was observed near one of the generating sets around 16:40 hrs on Friday.
The DDL Fire Response Team responded and worked to control the fire until the arrival of units of the Guyana Fire Service.
Up to press time, the Guyana Fire Service was able to contain the fire to the power station, and no other facilities or installations were under threat.
