IN a bid to enhance haemophilia care in Guyana, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, recently met with the Guyana Haemophilia Society and a team of specialists from the Louisiana Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders at Tulane University.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s Brickdam Headquarters, aimed to foster collaborative efforts in developing comprehensive care for patients suffering from bleeding disorders.

The expert team, led by Dr. Marissaa Janbain, Haematologist and Director of the Louisiana Center, included Nicole Reynaud, Haemophilia Nurse Manager; Constance Thibodeaux; Social Worker Manager; Kenneth Martin; Physical Therapist; Jennifer Borrillo; Social Worker Manager; and Sean Singh, Consultant. Their discussions centred on supporting the Haemophilia Treatment Centre in Guyana, improving local treatment options, and training healthcare professionals.

The meeting marks an important step towards developing a robust healthcare infrastructure for haemophilia patients in Guyana through international partnerships and knowledge-sharing.
