EARLY on Friday, a fire erupted at Puruni Landing, resulting in severe damage to buildings and other structures.
According to a press release from the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), immediate response measures were implemented, with both Police and Fire Prevention Officers to contain and manage the situation.

Based on initial reports, the fire originated in a generator room adjacent to a Chinese supermarket and subsequently spread to nearby structures.
Up to press time, the Ministry of Home Affairs was diligently overseeing the incident, collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the area and those affected.
