THREE persons, including a woman, are currently in police custody following the discovery of the mutilated body of 43-year-old Chetram Ramjattan, known as “Buck Crab,” in a drain at Kilcoy, Corentyne, Berbice, on Thursday morning.
The suspects, aged 31, 32 and 34 are reported to be Venezuelan labourers residing in the same village.

The Guyana Chronicle was made to understand that Ramjattan, who is a domestic worker of Lot 53 Kilcoy Settlement, was allegedly murdered sometime between 13:00 hours on Sunday, November 26 and 06:50 hours on Thursday, November 30th.
Speaking with the media on Thursday, the victim’s sister, Kamaladai Ramjattan, 45, revealed that her brother had been missing for the past four days.

After searching, the family filed a missing person report at the Albion Police Station on Wednesday.
Recounting the last sighting, Kamaladai mentioned that, on Sunday, at 12:00 hrs, she observed her brother consuming alcohol at her home before he left.

The search intensified, leading a party to the vicinity of Arjune’s Chicken Farm at Fyrish Village, on Thursday, at about 6:00 hrs, where Chetram’s lifeless body was found face down in a drain.
He was dressed in red and white track pants without a shirt. The external examination revealed suspected stab wounds below the neck, along with injuries on the head, indicating multiple chop wounds.

The body was picked up and escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was thereafter escorted to the Ramoo Funeral Home for a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Kamaladai described her brother as quiet, since he did not have problems with anyone. She is seeking justice for her brother’s death and hopes that the perpetrators will face the full brunt of the law.
“Them say he head cut out. Them stab am up in he stomach and chop up he face. The parlour say them damage am”, she told this newspaper while fighting back tears.
Investigation into the murder is ongoing.
