POLICE in Region Two have arrested a 17-year-old motorcyclist of Charity Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast, who was involved in a fatal accident on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Manniram Sooklall of Charity.
According to the information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the teenager was allegedly speeding along the Charity Access Dam around 19:00 hours, when he “ran over something.”
When he stopped to investigate, he saw a male lying on the northern side of the road with what appeared to be blood oozing from his body.
The police in a press release said that the teen “panicked and drove away.”
Sooklall was picked up by ranks in an unconscious state and rushed to the Oscar Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
The teenager was later arrested and his motorcycle lodged at the Charity Police Station.
