Young team prepared, confident ahead of upcoming matches
AHEAD of Saturday’s CONCACAF Under-17 Men’s Football Qualifiers in Florida, local soccer players were yesterday tasked with ensuring they come out victorious, with sights set on bigger goals for 2023.
Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Technical Director, Bryan Joseph, along with head coach Vurlon Mills told media yesterday at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre, Providence that the preparation was great leading up to this match.
“I feel very confident because the preparation was good. We had enough time and the exposure that we had on the European trip, I think that bodes well. I think even with the addition of players from the diaspora, we basically got a much stronger team that can compete over the five matches.” said the Technical Director.
Mills added that the players are very confident heading into this match and are well aware and prepared for their upcoming battles, deeming Bermuda as arguably the toughest potential opponents Guyana could likely face.
Meanwhile, Guyana get their campaign underway against Bonaire on Tuesday August 30 at 09:00hts, followed by The Bahamas on September 1 at 11:00hrs with another battle against Saint Martin on September 3 from 09:00hrs.
On September 5, from 09:00hrs, Guyana and British Virgin Islands (BVI) face off, with their campaign coming to an end against Bermuda on September 7, at 11:00hrs.
Meanwhile, Group-B comprises Puerto Rico, Aruba, Martinique, Anguilla, and the US Virgin Islands, while Group-C contains the Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Cayman Islands, and Dominica. Group-D features Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Turks and Caicos Islands.
