AJAY Ali, 22, a fisherman of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was killed after a motorcar crashed into him while he was crossing the Success Public Road, ECD on
Monday, about 23:20hrs

According to Police Headquarters, the fatal accident involved motorcar HB 5349 driven by 46-year-old Kumar Persaud of Cane Grove, ECD.

According to the 46-year-old driver of the motorcar, on the said date and time, he was proceeding west along the Success Public Road when Ali ran from south to north into the vehicle’s path, causing a collision.

As a result, the 22-year-old fell onto the roadway, receiving several injuries.

Police ranks were informed and immediately visited the scene of the accident where Ali was seen motionless on the road.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The body was subsequently taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver found no trace of alcohol. He remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
