THE president, executives and members of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) extended their joy and gratitude towards their women’s team and coaching staff who recently secured the 2022 Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Female Inter-County title.

Berbice women’s team manager and long-serving BCB executive Angela Haniff, coach Winston Smith, Guyana/West Indies all-rounder and team captain Shemaine Campbelle as well as her squad gained massive praise from the Ancient County board.

This past weekend at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence the ladies lifted the 50-Over title to add to the 20/20 Chip which they had won last week.
“We would like to reassure you that we would continue to invest heavily in female cricket and that more tournaments are on the cards, so that you can improve even more,” said BCB president Hilbert Foster.

Also, following up with his donations over the weekend of cricket gear, Foster recently received a message from Mr Danny Hodge, a member of the community of Hururu Ladernville, located in the Upper Berbice River.

Hodge, relayed that they have a cricket team there and a lot of youths are passionate about the game, thus requesting assistance in the form of gear. Foster readily agreed to the request and fulfilled his promise by handing over some gear in the form of scorebook, balls and white cricket shirts on behalf of BCB and Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC).

He wished the team well and committed to assisting in the future as resources become available. In reply, Hodge expressed delight at the quick response to his request and stated that he was always confident that Foster would assist.

The RHTYSC will plan a visit to the area later in the year or early next year, as part of its ongoing cricket development programme.
