WHOEVER is the lucky young lady that secures the win at the 2022 Miss World Guyana pageant on August 21 at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) is set to walk away with an estimated prize package of $5.5 Million.
A number of number of prizes are also expected for those who support contestants in the application process.

With the hope of attracting a larger pool of candidates now that the pageant is returning, Majesty International, the official franchise holder of the “Miss World Guyana” license, is calling on Guyanese at home and abroad to help find the next beauty queen through application referral.

Persons who make referrals have a chance of winning a US$1000 gift card if one of their referrals wins the Miss World Guyana 2022 competition.
Persons can also receive a US$50 gift card if their referral becomes a finalist in the pageant.

With screenings set for Linden, Berbice, Georgetown, and Bartica, the Miss World Guyana franchise holder has extended the deadline date for applications to May 26, Independence Day.
“We want a larger pool to choose from and an opportunity to educate on what a great program the Miss World journey is.

“I believe the pandemic impacted that confidence gene we look for in our winning candidate, and this is our opportunity to revive, restore and awaken that critical element in our young women,” Natasha Martindale, National Director at the Miss World Guyana Organisation (MWGO), shared in a conversation.

The screening for Berbice is set for this Saturday at the Sip and Play Poolside and Bar, while the screening in Linden is set for Sunday at the Times Square.
According to Martindale, Majesty is on the hunt for well-rounded, talented and brave young women for the competition.

The application is open to all single, natural-born females who are Guyanese by birth or by parentage, regardless of which part of the world they live. The applicant must be between 17 and 26 years.
Martindale said the Miss World program is designed to be an excellent vehicle for building confidence, advancing careers and personal goals, and, in particular, leaving a lasting positive legacy.

“It truly represents female empowerment and serves as a mechanism for young women interested in sports and fitness, community service and development, public speaking, modelling, and those who are able to express their talents in the performance arts field,” she said.

Applicants must also be of good moral character and possess charm, poise, and personality with backgrounds not likely to bring the local pageant, its affiliates, the national director, or any person connected to or associated with the competition into disrepute.

Guyana has performed well in the past at the international Miss World pageant, with Guyana’s reigning 2019 queen, Joylyn Conway, finishing as a semi-finalist in the top 40.
This is the first time Miss World Guyana pageant will return since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the Miss World Guyana organisation restructured its “Beauty with A Purpose” project platform to one that is more inclusive and regionally impactful within a central theme.
The Miss World Guyana nationwide campaign will come to life once the competition gets to its semi-finals stage where each candidate will create her own literacy campaign in categories such as cultural, basic, media, or financial literacy, and more. (TG)
