— for new location in Region Nine
DIGICEL Guyana Chief Executive Officer, Gregory Dean, has handed over three brand new laptops to Women Across Differences (WAD) at Digicel’s head office in Kingston.
According to a release, the donation came as a timely reminder, in observance of International Women’s Day and to celebrate the work that WAD is currently doing with women to achieve social transformation.
“We are happy that we can assist and partner with WAD, being able to contribute to the empowerment of women is something that Digicel will always be happy to do,” said Dean at the simple handing over ceremony. Receiving the donation was Clonel Samuels-Boston, coordinator of Women Across Differences, who mentioned that the timely donation will greatly assist with their work at their newly established Ignatius, Kumu and Quarrie sub-office offices in Region Nine.
“We would like to thank Digicel for always assisting us when we reach out for assistance like this and we do look forward to our continued partnership,” said Samuels-Boston.
WAD is a national network of women and women’s organisations committed to individual and social transformation in Guyana, and Digicel has, over the years, partnered with them on various initiatives and programmes lending support where it was needed.
Digicel has been providing support by donation of handsets, essential care items and educational support for some promising young women who have been persevering and achieving, despite challenging circumstances, thanks to the great work of WAD.
Digicel gave their commitment to provide support to WAD in their future initiatives, since supporting, women, youth, children and special needs education and development in Guyana are high on Digicel’s CSR agenda, the release concluded.
