MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, has hailed the appointment of Ramnaresh Sarwan to Cricket West Indies (CWI) men’s senior and youth selection panels.

In a statement on Friday, Minister Ramson Jr. stated, “On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for the Government of the Republic of Guyana, I would like to extend congratulations to Ramnaresh ‘Ronnie’ Sarwan on his appointment as a Selector to the West Indies Men’s Senior and Youth Selection Panels.

“This is another important achievement for Ronnie and the position bears the weight of expectation for cricket-loving West Indians across the region. While executing the duties of his appointment, Ronnie will have my support and the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. All the best, Ronnie.”

On Friday, CWI announced the former West Indies captain will join the selection panel which is headed by former batting maestro Hon. Dr Desmond Haynes.

Sarwan will be a member of the Men’s Senior and Youth Selection Panels until June 30, 2024 – a period that includes four ICC Global Events, two T20 World Cups (2022 & 2024), the Cricket World Cup (2023), and the World Test Championship Final (2023).
