One missing after speed boat flips, sinks in Essequibo River

FIVE men, whose speedboat capsized and sank in the Essequibo River, on Friday, were rescued by a passing speedboat carrying military officers, a police statement said this morning.

One person is still missing. He is identified as Junior Kenroy Sooklall, a 24-year-old private soldier in the Guyana Defense Force (GDF), stationed at Fort Island. The police statement said Sooklall sank during the rescue operation.
