RESIDENTS and businesses in Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, will now be able to access the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT)’s fibre-optic internet service, as the telecommunications company continues to roll out fibre broadband technology within the country.

The company continues to move ahead with its plan to connect at least 10,000 new homes to its fibre-optic internet service by the end of this year, according to a statement from GTT.

In September, the company unveiled its ‘GTT Fibre’ service as a major upgrade to the former Blaze service, offering significant increases in upload and download speeds and reliable connectivity at reduced rates.
Having been added to that list of available fibre areas, Vreed-en-Hoop will benefit from on-the-spot installations.

GTT’s Chief Operations Officer for Home Solutions and Fixed Services, Eshwar Thakurdin, said he is proud that GTT could deliver once again on its promise to reliably connect its customers, and achieve the vision of the company to improve life experiences to every home and business in Guyana.

“Connectivity is no longer a luxury. It is key to our everyday productivity. Even more so, living in a pandemic, the balance between staying safe and connecting to work, entertainment and other leisure activities depends on a reliable connection – one which our company is continuously working to upgrade and expand,” he said.

Thakurdin added: “We are very proud to bring fibre to the residents and businesses of Vreed-en-Hoop, to join the other areas on the ‘west side’ that already enjoy fibre – these include Bagotville, La Grange, La Parfaite Harmonie, La Retraite, Nismes, Onderneeming Phase One, Recht Doorzee, Schoonard, Toevlugt, West Minister, Parika and Ruschen.”

With the new residential plans of Fibre50, Fibre100, and Fibre150, customers in Vreed-en-Hoop could apply for the service at $8,999, $10,999, and $12,999 respectively.

As part of GTT’s Christmas celebration, customers will get free installation and the first month free service. There are also special offers for GTT’s DSL customers making the switch to GTT Fibre. Each service comes with a fixed voice line.

Business customers will also benefit from the BizFibre service with plans ranging from Biz50, Biz100, and Biz500, starting as low as $14,999.
GTT promised to continue its fibre expansion to new residential and business areas, and will make further announcements on its social media platforms.
