Our National Motto: ‘One People, One Nation, One Destiny’, was on full display last Sunday night, as some of Guyana’s most celebrated artistes took to the stage and sang their hearts out.
The ‘One Guyana’ concert hosted by the Government of Guyana oozed of patriotism, and as the virtual event began, our national colours which decorated the almost-empty Guyana National Stadium, flooded the screens of our television sets, phones, laptops and tablets.

But even as the coronavirus prevents us from rejoicing and celebrating our heritage in physical unison, the event provided a clean, safe, and virtual space for us to come together and enjoy just some of what makes us a truly unique people.
The line -up of the performers was keen enough to pay tribute to not only the common and vibrant identity that we share today, but to our heritage, incorporating the sounds of our ancestors who came from Europe, Africa, Asia and China; it featured various genres of music and various artistical displays.

Many also called it a night of nostalgia as it captivated the interest of not only young, energetic Guyanese, but also older citizens who were able to sit back in comfort and enjoy some of the more soulful performances. The concert brought together, Guyanese from all walks of life, both in and out of Guyana who joined via social media.

More than just music, hype and dance, the performances also delivered powerful messages of unity, love and overcoming even the darkest of nights, in anticipation of a brighter day that may be on the horizon.
Unfortunately, the Ministry responsible for hosting the event has not uploaded any images, but we share with you, some imagines of the artistes who warmed our hearts last Sunday.
