BCB looking to develop indoor facility

BERBICE Cricket Board (BCB) president Hilbert Foster has started discussion with a friend of Berbice Cricket who wants to assist in the development of an indoor cricket practice facility in the Ancient County.

The discussion is in the early stages and the project when completed would be a major boost for our cricket.

The potential sponsor has committed to fund the cost of the nets, batting mats, bowling machines etc if the board can find assistance to build a suitable home for the centre.

The donor, who is based in Australia, also has plans to send two 20-ft containers of cricket gear, footwear and other items once there is an improvement in the COVID-19 situation.

Foster has committed the board to work along with our friend to make sure the plans become reality sometime in 2022.

The BCB president has stated that he would be seeking re-election in December for a third term and would work hard to leave our cricket at a very high level when his final term ends in 2023.

A large shipment of cricket gear is expected to arrive in Guyana shortly from England from the charity group, Cricket Kindness after a slight delay due to COVID-19.
The cricket gear will be distributed to youths across the county when they arrive.
