Man accused of discharging loaded gun remanded

A CONSTRUCTION worker, on Monday, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm at three men and was remanded to prison.

Renard Caesar, 24, of South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to three charges.

According to the particulars of the charges, Caesar allegedly discharged a loaded firearm at Orlando Joseph, Kurt Fiedkou and Darius Frank. He was remanded to prison until October 11.

On September 17, Caesar along with two others were arrested during a high speed chase with police at Speightland, Linden.

During the chase, the police were shot at by a man in the front passenger seat of the black motor car.  The car subsequently crashed into the fence of the Mackenzie Sports Club ground and turned turtle.

The said male then exited the car and attempted to run away while an identifiable female was seen crawling out of the car.

The ranks gave chase and managed to capture the male who was found hiding in some bushes.

Another identifiable male, who was also an occupant of the said motorcar, made good his escape.  The police managed to retrieve four 9mm spent shells from a yard at Speightland.
