A 26-year-old logger, who is accused of the gruesome murder of 24-year-old Kevin Hercules of Wiruni Village, Berbice River, was, on Monday, remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Marlon LaRose of Maria Henrietta, Upper Berbice River, was not required to plead to the indictable charge during his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that he committed the offence between September 12 and 13, 2021, at Wiruni.
He was remanded to prison until October 15.
On September 14, Hercules’ body was fished out of the Berbice River. His face was mutilated and there was a slit to his throat.
LaRose was arrested on September 17, and reportedly confessed to killing Hercules during an altercation.
