A RETIRED officer of the Guyana Police Force was on Sunday reportedly robbed of his 9mm semi-automatic pistol and magazine with 10 live 9mm rounds after visiting the Dakara Creek, Wismar, Linden, with relatives, for a swim day.
According to a police report, the 59-year-old male parked his silver-grey Toyota Allion motorcar bearing registration number PPP 1014 and left his firearm in the glove compartment of the vehicle, while his relatives left their belongings on the seats and other parts of the car.
He allegedly then secured the car and they all made their way to the creek which is located some 75 feet down a hill, causing the driver to lose sight of the vehicle. Upon their return, they noticed the small window attached to the right side rear door was broken and the right side passenger door partly opened.
The party then discovered the firearm and rounds missing, along with one Samsung A30 cellphone valued at $65,000; one black ‘Kool Pad’ cellphone valued $20,000; one black smart phone valued $30,000; one pair of reading glasses valued $58,000, $12,400 in cash and important documents.
Police headquarters reported that an investigation is in progress.
