OMARI Glasgow, according to reports, was impressive at the two-day National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division One ‘University ID’ try-out in Atlanta. Glasgow will have to wait one week, following the evaluation of the coaches, and will be contacted via email on which school will make an offer.

Albert Cappell, who arranged and was instrumental in facilitating the try-out for Glasgow, stressed on the Fruta Conquerors player’s exceptional showing, and being among the stand-out players at the event that catered for over 200 players from across the US.The try-out, which was conducted by coaches considered the ‘Crème De La Crème’ of NCAA D1 University football, saw the 17-year-old Beterverwagting (BV) resident impressing coaches from Clemson University, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, North Carolina State University, University of South Florida, Gonzaga, Liberty University, Virginia Tech, and Georgetown University.

Cappell revealed that Glasgow, the lone Guyanese player at the Try-out, was made the captain of his group that went on to win all their scrimmages at the end of the exercise on Sunday.
He said all the coaches and on-lookers, most of whom were parents/guardians of other players, were very doting of the young player from Guyana.

Glasgow has represented Guyana at the U-17 (2019 CONCACAF Championships) and U-20 (2020 CONCACAF Championships) levels, and scored against The Bahamas when Guyana won 4 – 0 during the Golden Jaguars’ FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Cappell said special thanks should be given to Cathleen Jason and Sandreen Harris for assisting Omari in a major way to help make his stint in Atlanta possible.
