… Several new life members inducted
RAMEEZ Mohamed was returned to the helm of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) following the body’s Annual General Meeting and Election of office-bearers on Monday. Mohamed, who was returned unchallenged, enters his fourth year of presidency of the club.
Also during Monday evening’s meeting, the club had adopted and approved the financial report for the years 2019 and 2020.
Those present were also allowed to voice their concerns about the sport moving forward.
Former vice-president Hansraj (Richie) Singh will return to that post, replacing Mohamed S. Roshandin, while Azim Jaffar remains as the club secretary.
Azaad Hassan is the new treasurer with Harold ‘top gun’ Hopkinson moving into his role as assistant secretary/treasurer.
Sunil Persaud returns as Club captain with John Chin replacing Joel Evans as technical adviser.
The returning committee members are Kamal Seebarran, Haniff Mohamed, Motilall ‘Kevin’ Deodass, Carey Griffith with new-comer Neilon Dias.
In addition the club also moved a motion and later approved the appointment of technocrat members in Joel Evans, Nyron Maraj, John Bennett, Paul Jiwanram and Diana D’ornellas. A motion was passed for Ramesh Seebarran of HLB R. Seebarran & Co to replace Parmesar Accountants as the club’s auditors. New life members
The proposition and later acceptance of new life members of the club also formed part of the meeting.
Azruddin Mohamed of Team Mohamed’s Enterprise was awarded life membership by the club for his development of the drag strip and drag area of the South Dakota Circuit while longstanding administrator Selwyn ‘Bunny’ Persaud was also inducted.
Harold Hopkinson joins the life member rank having dedicated numerous years and technical experience to the club along with office executive Desiree Lee.
The fifth and final addition to the list was that of former motorcycle rider and adviser Compton A. Beckles whose work aboard the two-wheel machines was reflected on briefly.
