ANDREW Williams of Middle Road, La Penitence, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and was placed on $15,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Williams denied that he, on May 8, 2021 at Middle Road, La Penitence, had in his possession 32 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. According to the prosecution, on the day in question, police, who were on motorcycle patrol duty, received information which led them to Middle Road, where Williams was contacted. At the time, Williams was wearing a one strap shoulder bag which was searched by the ranks in his presence. During the search, twenty ziploc transparent plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, were found. Williams was arrested and taken to the Ruimveldt Police Station. Further investigations led to him being charged.
The matter was adjourned until June 16, 2021.
