FORMER national U-19 cricketer, Ronaldo Renee, struck a half-century to seal the McGill Super Stars Sports Club overall victory against Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) Sports Club in their three-match series over the weekend.

After Canal Number One team, Mc Gill, had won the opener by 15 runs a week prior, the sides assembled again at the MMZ ground on Sunday for their second clash.
The home team won the toss and chose to bat, but only former national youth player, Richie Looknauth, dominated. His 54 included two fours and an equal number of sixes.
With little support, the side could only reach 117-9 in their allotted 35 overs.

Jermaine Maxwell, 13 (1X6) and Leroy Miggins 11, (1X6) also reached double figures, but the home team was undermined by the bowling of medium-pacers, Daniel Basdeo and Diquan Murray.
The left-handed Basdeo finished with 3-25 from seven overs, while the right-handed Murray took 2-21 from three overs.

In reply, MMZ did well in their attempt to defend their total, but McGill, led by Renee, were able to reach the needed total in 27 overs. They lost eight wickets in the process.
Renee finished with a match-high 58, which included three fours and five sixes, while Basdeo struck two sixes in an unbeaten 13 towards the end.

Mahendra Dasrat with 2-20 from six overs and Maxwell with 2-22 from four overs were the pick of the home team’s bowlers.
McGill Super Stars and MMZ SC are two of the top clubs in the West Demerara Cricket Association.
