IN an effort to structure cricket scoring in the capital city, the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) is in the process of finalising the use of an electronic scoring system.
Chairman of the Competition’s Committee, Shaun Massiah, in a message to the media yesterday, noted that once finalized, the system would be “a must for all our affiliated club to use during all our competitions”. The active First Division cricketer later confirmed that the CricClubs app would be used. According to cricclubs.com, “With the CricClubs app, matches can be scored live through Android, iOS, smartphones and also through any PC. The live matches can be shared through social media….” To ensure that persons are familiar with the process, the GCA will facilitate training. To this end, the GCA is asking that each club identify at least two persons (either members or those attached to the clubs) to take part in the training. According to Massiah, persons selected must be “interested, committed, willing, like the game and should be ready to score at matches when called upon”.

SCORING ASSOCIATION
Clubs are to submit names and numbers to the Competition’s Committee Chairman on or before April 29.
Massiah added that once the training seminar is completed, persons who took part “may be incorporated into the Scorers Association”.
The GCA governs several powerhouse cricket clubs in Guyana, including the Georgetown Cricket Club, the Demerara Cricket Club, the Everest Cricket Club, Malteenoes Sports Club, Police Sports Club, the Guyana Defence Force and the Transport Sports Club, among others.
