Georgetown Dominoes Association charts plans for next two years

THE Georgetown Domino Association (GDA) is in the process of keeping members up to speed with its plans for the next two years, while taking a look at its code of conduct and mode of operation for the organised and structured way for the indoor game.

At a meeting held last Sunday at Dynasty Sports Club, the association also took the opportunity to introduce the new executives who were elected the previous Sunday.

President, Lyndon Boston officially introduced the new executives of the association which are as follows: President – Lyndon Boston, vice-president Hazim Hakh, Secretary Ann Thompson, Treasurer Earl Mars, Asst. Secretary/Treasurer Rodwell Phillips, Senior Organising Secretary Mark Wiltshire, Organising Secretaries Barbara Marshall and Chris Anthony Pasramen, Public Relations Officer Roderick Harry, Committee Members Andrea Mars, Dhyan Carter, Colin Boyce, William Orrin Boston and Erwin Chapman.

The new vice-president, who also heads the Discipline Committee pleaded for full cooperation and discipline within the venues as it was seriously lacking over time.

Burning issues were raised by the captains and their representatives and these were dealt with by the executives. Most were satisfied with the friendly interactions in dealing with the issues at hand.

Among the decisions taken were that venues are to be issued a Certificate of Approval once they adhere to all guidelines set by the GDA. All organisers were asked to publish the dates of their competitions in order for consideration to be granted by the appointed committee for approval. COVID-19 measures will and must be continued to be implemented.

Raymond Ali of All Seasons/All Seasons Angels Sports Club gave the undertaking to donate 50 packs of COVID-19 masks and 25 bottles of sanitisers in keeping with the guidelines set out by the Task Force, to play in a safe environment and to quell and eventually eliminate the spread of the virus.

Among those in attendance were immediate Past President Colin McEwan and President of the Guyana National Domino Federation and Vice-president of the World Council Domino Federation Faye Joseph.

Teams represented at the meeting were: FIB/Gangster, Turning  Point, R&R/B13, F&H, Gold is Money, All Season/Angels, OPKO, Phantom, Players, Spartans, Lions, Mix-Up/TNT,  C6, C7, Executives, 300/Strikers, Sius Warriors and Big Boss Girls.
