TWO sensational competitions are being organised for a showdown tomorrow night (Saturday) when the best of the best in Chutney and Soca will come together on stage to put on their dazzling performances.
The virtual event is being organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and a significant number of local artistes will put on their best show where two $1.5M cash prizes are up for grabs.

According to the Ministry’s Facebook Page, there will also be three other competitions tomorrow at the National Cultural Centre – steel pan, junior soca monarch and calypso. The steel pan competition will kick off the day’s proceedings at 10:00hrs while the chutney competition will be streamed live from 19:00hrs, followed by soca.
The event was initially billed for the Guyana National Stadium, which would have been an ideal venue to cater for all COVID-19 protocols, but the NCC was chosen instead owing to recent inclement weather.
The Buzz understands, though, that measures are in place to have the artistes adhere to strict COVID measures, such as limiting the number of dancers that each artiste can perform with.

The event will feature 10 Chutney and 10 Soca artistes and the best person in each category will take home the trophy and cash prize.
In the Chutney category, there are: Anil Azeez and Annalise Azeez with their song, Beautiful Guyana; Kevin Singh with My Baby Guyana; Chait Singh Mohalall (Bunty Singh) with Treat Yuh Woman Right; Bill Rogers (Young Bill Rogers) with The Larkies Man; Sonya Ragbeer with Dulha Aage Dhere Dhere; Paramdai Willie (Vanita Willie) with Meh Dulaha; Dennis Hemerding (Dennis King) with Roll It; Wazir Haniff with Guyanese Indian Wedding; and Allisha Craig (Queen Allisha) with I Am In Love.
