Guyhoc Park mason succumbs to stab wounds

DANIEL Boutrin, 23, a mason of 157 Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, who was wounded on Saturday last at D Field Sophia, succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Monday.

Investigations revealed that a 25-year-old mason of Sophia is the alleged perpetrator. His sister was involved in a relationship with Boutrin.
Reports indicated that, on March 13, Boutrin was at the suspect’s parents’ home and while there an argument started over a bicycle which the suspect had borrowed from him during the latter part of 2020 and later lost it.

Police said that an argument escalated and the suspect armed himself with a knife while the Boutrin armed himself with a cutlass.
The suspect’s parents intervened and caused him to leave the premises. Subsequently, the victim left, but as he was about to enter a taxi, he was confronted by the suspect who threw several stabs at him while the victim in turn retaliated with some missed chops.

He was stabbed on his left side chest and after a short run he fell to the ground. The suspect then ran away with the knife and made good his escape.
The victim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was hospitalised in the ICU and later died.

The body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy. Police said efforts were made to locate the suspect but without success.
