QUEENSTOWN U-19 stamped their authority on the Devon Ramnauth Region Two Youth Cricket League by blazing their way to an emphatic 119-run victory in Round Three against United Warriors.
The unbeaten side batted first, over the weekend, at the Imam Bacchus ground in the T20 affair. Although none of their batsmen dominated, several of them got into double figures, which helped to push the score to 139-9 from their allotted overs. Jean Marc Mahese led all scorers with 29.
Warriors off-spinner Benny Persaud snapped up 3-23 in four overs, while Shivo Seurattan and Daniel Dass picked up two wickets each.
Warriors, in reply, were undermined by the off-spin bowling of Wazim Mohammed and the medium pace of Jason Holder.
Mohamed finished with 4-4 from 3.5 overs (a man-of-the-match performance), while Holder, who has bowled well in the competition, finished with 3-5 from four overs.
At Reliance Ground, Rising Stars Spartans were able to deliver another dominant performance when they faced Essequibo Eagles.
Led by national youth players Sachin Singh and Mavindra Dindyal, Spartans were able to reach 146 in their innings.
Man-of-the-match awardee Dindyal finished with 46 unbeaten runs, while Singh and Mahesh Ramnarine added 37 each.
Lance Roberts took 2-18 from four overs to lead Eagles.
In their turn at the crease, Eagles fell for 110. Roberts led the way with 23. Mahendra Basdeo took 2-7 in four overs for Spartans.
In another fixture, the visiting side Reliance Hustlers youths registered an eight-wicket win against home team, Golden Fleece Vikings.
Vikings batted first, but were routed for 64. I. Ally finished with 20, while Aaron Beharry took 3-4 from four overs. Ushardeva Balgobin with 2-2 from two overs and D. Lall with 2-15 were also on target.
Hustlers then eased to 65-2. Beharry, who ended with the man-of-the-match award, led the charge with 28 unbeaten runs.
