Police are currently investigating the armed robbery committed on a security officer while he was on duty at the A- Chang Supermarket, located at Lot 562/563 Railway Embankment, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, on Tuesday.
According to a police report, Benson Jarvis was relieved of his service weapon – one .32 Taurus Pistol serial # FKAM 76570 with twelve live .32 rounds valued at $245,000 and a $23, 000 Blu cellphone.
Jarvis told police that he was on duty at the supermarket when he was approached by two unidentifiable men on a motorcycle. The pillion rider, who was armed with a handgun, pointed same towards him and relieved him of the said items. The suspects then made good their escape heading east on the said motorcycle.
Investigations are in progress.
