26 new COVID-19 cases recorded

AN additional 26 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 for the date February 13, 2021, according to a release from the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
The regional breakdown will show that of these new cases, one was recorded in Region One (Barima-Waini); three were in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara); 14 in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica); two in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice); another two in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), and one in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
No new cases were recorded in Regions Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), or Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Upper Berbice).
The COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) currently has in its care eight persons, while forty persons remain institutionally isolated. Twenty-eight persons are in institutional quarantine, and another 594 are isolated at home.
All citizens of Guyana are being urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six-foot physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
