Woman who allegedly damaged ex-partner’s property granted bail

A WOMAN who allegedly used a piece of wood to damage her former lover’s property, was, on Monday, granted $30,000 bail by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs – Marcus when she made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.. Anita Steele of A field, South Sophia, pleaded not guilty to the damage-to-property charge. It is alleged that she, on January 1, at Durban Street, Lodge, unlawfully and maliciously damaged nineteen concrete plant pots, together valued at $190,000, and one metal door valued at $65,000, property of Lawrence Braithwaite. Prosecutor Austin informed the court that Steele and Braithwaite once shared a relationship. On the day in question, at about 05:00 hours, Steele went to Braithwaite’s home and damaged the plant pots and door. Steele allegedly broke the pots and hit the door with a large piece of wood. CCTV camera footage allegedly shows Steele committing the offence. A report was made and Steele was contacted. She was subsequently charged for the offence. The matter was adjourned until February 22.
