Venezuelans, allegedly, rob businessman, wife $10M, guns and jewellery

VENEZUELANS, on Monday, allegedly robbed a Port Kaituma, Region One businessman and his wife at gunpoint of $10M, four gold chains and four rings, along with firearms.
The victims were identified as Elroy Allam, 56, and his 22-year-old reputed wife, Shonna Campbell.
Reports indicated that Allam is a licensed firearm holder. The robbery occurred between 23:00hrs and 23:32hrs at Allam’s Port Kaituma Waterfront property.
Police said one of the suspects is identifiable and ranks have retrieved surveillance footage of the incident.

The suspects escaped in a boat along the Aruka River, and, as such, police ranks, along with ranks from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard based at Morwhanna, responded to the robbery. Police said while the ranks were searching along the Aruka River, they came under fire from the suspects.
The ranks returned fire but the suspects inside the boat managed to escape in the direction of the Guyana/Venezuela border.
It is unclear at this time if any of the suspects was injured but police said that none of the ranks was injured during the shooting. Police are investigating the robbery.
