ONE of the long-standing clubs in the mining town, Kings Basketball Club, through two United States-based Linden residents, have made donations of basketballs and boots to four clubs in Linden. The donation was made by the secretary of the club, Ms Lissa Robertson, on behalf of former player Ryan Clarke and coach Gary Stephens, to representatives of Victory Valley Royals, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Kings and Retrieve Raiders basketball clubs. The handing-over took place at the residence of Stephens, who is currently the lead official of the club and has contributed to the resuscitation of the club which is mainly comprised of junior players. Clarke is a former player who is giving back also and has helped in making the donations, including footballs, to the Amelia’s Ward Panthers Football Club among others. Kings’ basketball officials and former national players Nichola Jacobs and Shana Chester witnessed the presentations which come at a time when basketball is hoping to return to the hard courts in Linden.
