– over $500,000 in supplies to Traffic Chief
OFFICIALS of Assuria Insurance Company, on Friday, donated over $500,000 in supplies to Traffic Chief, Ramesh Ashram at the Traffic Department Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Assuria’s General Manager, Yogindra Arjune, said the company was fulfilling its corporate responsibility in observance of road safety week.
He noted that the signage and other supplies would aid the traffic police in doing their jobs and minimise accidents on the roadways.
“The signs were done a little different this time where the Traffic Chief gave us some advice where the villages were listed under the speed limit, which is unique. We also donated several fans to the department to ensure the ranks are more comfortable,” the General Manager said.
A total of 20 road signs and 20 fans were donated to the Traffic Chief.
“This is just the beginning and we will continue to assist the traffic department and the new traffic chief in his endeavors,” Arjune said.
Traffic Chief, Senior Superintendent, Ramesh Ashram, said the insurance company did not hesitate to assist when he reached out to it seeking the sponsorship.
“The signs will enhance the traffic guidelines, especially on the east bank corridors where speed limit signs will be placed between villages for all drivers to see since they are large and carry writing of the villages and the speed limits required during that journey,” the Traffic Chief said.
The Senior Superintendent said that the donations were timely since National Road Safety Week activities will commence Sunday.
