THE body of a 65-year-old man was found with injuries on the road at Third Street, Mon Repos Pasture, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Sunday night. Police are investigating the circumstances of his demise.

He was identified as Astraf Ali of 173 Mon Repos Pasture, ECD. Police said the man was seen lying on the road’s surface at around 21:00hrs with injuries about the body and a reddish substance, which appeared to be blood, around him.

The police and the ambulance were summoned and paramedics checked but did not find a pulse.

Ali was then placed into the ambulance and escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead.
The body is currently at Lyken Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
