PROMPT action by the Region Two administration Monday morning resulted in the receding of floodwaters, particularly in the Charity, Affiance, and Reliance areas.
Residents woke up to their yards flooded as a result of the excessive rainfall; Regional Vice-Chairman Humace Odit said he received several calls about the situation and immediately put the pumps at Anna Regina, Three Friends, Lima, Charity, and La Union into operation.

Officials also visited pumps and sluices in other areas such as Taymonth Manor and Capoey, to ensure that they are in proper working order.
The region’s drainage and irrigation team is dredging the communities of Capoey and Taymouth Manor, following reports that the sluice is said to be blocked with excessive slush.
The Regional Vice-Chairman advised residents to take the necessary precautions. He said the drainage and irrigation team will continue to monitor the situation along the coast.
