AN accident on the Little Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Monday, resulted in the death of 24-year-old Joshua Persaud and the hospitalisation of his friend, 27-year-old Devendra Partab.

Police, in a statement, noted that Persaud, of Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, was riding his motorcycle north along the western carriageway on the eastern drive lane at a fast rate when he lost control and toppled.

As a result, both Persaud and Partab (who was the pillion rider) fell on the road and received severe injuries. They were picked up in an unconscious state by a party of Police ranks and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where Persaud was pronounced dead. Pertab remains hospitalised.
The accident occurred minutes after midnight.
