70-year-old dies from COVID-19

A SEVENTY-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) died while being treated for COVID-19 at a public health facility on Friday.
On Friday, Regions One (Barima-Waini) and Region Four were the only two areas to record new cases. Some 45 such cases were recorded on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the country to date up to 4,143. However, another 38 persons have recovered from the virus, pushing the total number of recoveries to 3,192.

Three more persons have been admitted to the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), taking the total current patients to 10, while 75 persons remain in institutional isolation and 740 persons are in home isolation. Thirty-seven persons are in institutional quarantine.
To date, 19, 266 persons have been tested for the virus and 78 per cent of those tests have produced negative results. Men account for some 2,185 of the positive cases and women 1, 958.
