IN his exciting new endeavours to spread positivity though comedy and entertainment, Lyndon ‘Jumbie’ Jones has launched a new entertainment page called “Positive Vibes” that will feature human interest stories about random persons in Guyana.

For instance, one of the first posts on the page since its creation a few weeks ago showed how one man, without payment from anyone, used his time and energy to beautify his surroundings by cleaning and planting flowers.

Jumbie paid an unexpected visit to the man and rewarded him with a gift, compliments of Payless Variety Store.
“There’s so much negativity on social media and elsewhere. We decided that we can make a difference, maybe not a whole lot, but at least we can do little things to spread positivity out there,” Jumbie told The Buzz.

While the page would not feature the usual acting skits and videos, Jumbie would be focusing on his interactions with random people on the road, and their reaction upon receiving gifts and money for no reason at all.

Apart from random giveaways, the various segments include helping the poor man, questions for children (mostly Social Studies), trick questions for adults, ‘Say something nice’, and ‘What would you say to the world today?’

Perhaps the most fun segment would be ‘Would you like to win $6,000?’ The random person chosen to play will answer “easy” questions and has the option to quit after winning or proceeding to the next question, which can earn them more money.
The person playing also stands to lose all that he has won if he chooses to move ahead in the game but loses. The first question is for $500, second is for $1,000, third is for $2,000, fourth is for $4,000, and fifth is for $6,000. However, once a person plays, he will leave with a discount card regardless of how bad he did in the game.
Continuing to explain his plans further, Jumbie said: “We’ll just walk up to someone and say here’s $5,000. They’ll obviously believe we’re joking or it’s a prank, and we will film their reaction.”

While the target is mainly the less fortunate, he said they will also be having fun with others through guessing games and quizzes.
“If they can guess the correct answer to quizzes, they will win money. It will not be questions to embarrass people; it will be things that everyone should know and it will be tricky questions so no one will have to feel that they gave a wrong answer,” he said.

Jumbie said there is a line between embarrassing the person and having fun with them. He always makes it a point to exercise forethought and be careful not to have fun at the expense of hurting someone.

Just recently, Jumbie and his team have been able to help a family of 10 to purchase a piece of land.
“Positive Vibes along with Payless Variety Store and the Guyana Committee of Services is helping yet another random person they selected because of their severe plight. It just takes one person at a time to make the world a kinder place. Look out for the Positive Vibes crew in your area doing more random giveaways,” he urged the public.
Jumbie said anyone can contribute to the initiative and that many have pledged their support so far. “You just have to do whatever you can do. Doing nothing is the problem.”
