LAW enforcement officers, on Tuesday, arrested 17 persons for breaching gazette COVID-19 guidelines, after they were discovered imbibing at Khan’s Hideout Bar, located at lot 100 Second Street Montrose, East Coast Demerara.

According to police, ranks from Regional Division 4 ‘C’, led by a senior officer, acting on information received, between 17:15h and 17:45h, conducted an operation at the bar where they found the persons imbibing.

When police arrived at the venue, no one was wearing a mask, and, as a result, all 17 persons were taken into custody and placed on bail. They are to attend court.
Bars have been ordered to remain closed since March. As of Wednesday, Guyana recorded 26 COVID-19 related deaths.
