A MOTHER and child from Eccles on the East bank of Demerara, were, on Wednesday morning, robbed by armed bandits. The incident reportedly occurred around 09:00 hours, just outside the Eccles Nursery school compound.

According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, Elanna Garraway and her daughter were on their way to complete the child’s registration at the Nursery school, when they were ‘cornered’ by two unmasked men on a motorcycle, held at gunpoint and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money, along with a cell phone and documents.

A distressed Garraway recalled that, after the incident occurred, she was shaken up but residents of the aforementioned area came to her aid. She said that the residents stated that a similar incident occurred, just a few days prior, where a young couple were held, robbed and beaten by thieves, along the same trail.
However, a report was made at the diamond police station and the matter is currently under investigation.
