Lethem man busted with 251 cases of ‘Schin’ beer near Brazil border

A Lethem man has been arrested after he was caught attempting to smuggle 251 cases of Schin beer from a location near the Guyana/Brazil border.

According to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) , its ranks in Region 9 arrested the Lethem resident who was attempting to transport suspected smuggled cases of beers  on Saturday into the country. The beers are suspected to have emanated from Brazil. “The interdiction was made whilst the suspect was attempting to load the suspected articles onto the tray of his vehicle from its purportedly concealed location under a clump of bushes at an area near the Guyana/Brazil Border,” CANU said.

The man has been identified as Ryan Khan.The suspect and the items have been handed over to the Guyana Revenue Authority.
