A carpenter of the Pomona Housing Scheme in Region Two died on Sunday following an accident  on the Zorg Public Road on the Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Jagdesh Singh aka ‘Alex Singh’, age 28. The accident occurred around 07:00 hours.

The driver of motor canter GNN 3846, which was involved in the accident, is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

According to information reaching Guyana Chronicle, Singh was riding motorcycle CE 2037, proceeding north along the western lane of Zorg Public Road, at a fast rate when he lost control and collided with a cow. That caused the cow to run into the path of  the canter  which was said to be proceeding in the opposite direction on the eastern lane of the roadway.

The motorcyclist allegedly lost control and slammed into the right side portion of the canter. He sustained injuries about his body including his head and abdomen.

He was picked up in a semi-unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient. Around 11:45 hours while receiving treatment he succumbed  to his injuries. The body of the deceased was then taken to Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary and is awaiting a post mortem examination. Police investigations are ongoing.
