CARICOM Heads of Government will meet today for a special conference which will see Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, handing over the six-month CARICOM Chairmanship to Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
This will mark the 20th Special Meeting of CARICOM Heads and the handing over segment of the meeting will be Live-streamed on the CARICOM Secretariat’s Facebook page.

Remarks will be delivered by CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, and both Prime Ministers Mottley and Gonsalves. About six months ago, Prime Minister Mia Mottley took over the chairmanship from St. Lucia’s Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet. At the occasion, she had outlined her plans for CARICOM to advance the process of a single domestic space for transport and communications. She had also pledged to push for governments to work with the private sector and the labour movement to provide further opportunities beyond transport and communications, to food security, opportunities in the blue economy, renewable energy and Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
