POLICE are investigating the murder of Barnwell “Barnie” Thomas at Tamakay Farback Backdam, Mazaruni River on Thursday.

According to the Guyana Police Force, initial enquiries disclosed that the victim was at the suspect’s camp/shop imbibing when, at about 21:00hrs, a loud explosion was heard.
Thomas, shortly after, exited the premises and related to persons that the suspect shot him. Minutes later he collapsed.

A suspected gunshot wound was seen in the region of his stomach. The male suspect has since gone into hiding and is being sought by police.
