THREE men who allegedly carried out an armed robbery on a 40-year-old businessman and his family were on Saturday nabbed by the police.

According to police sources, one of the men suspected to be involved is believed to be the mastermind and is a career criminal. He was released three weeks ago from prison after serving a sentence for similar crimes.

Last Thursday, the businessman was leaving his Republic Park, East Bank Demerara home for work when the four armed men entered his yard and held him at gunpoint.

The bandits then bound the victim’s hands and also held his children at gunpoint. They then ransacked his house and took away over $15M worth of articles.

The men made good of their escape on foot and an awaiting motor car. The businessman reported the matter to the police and an investigation was launched.

Detectives were able to review surveillance footage from cameras inside of the businessman’s home.

Ranks attached to the Brickdam Police Station acting on information, swooped down at a location in Georgetown and nabbed three of the four suspects; some of the stolen articles were subsequently recovered.

An investigation and the hunt for the last suspect continues.
