Deryck Jaisingh called 'Mad Dog'

Local drag racer Deryck Jaisingh called ‘Mad Dog’ has died of COVID-19 complications.

Reports are that Jaisingh tested positive for the coronavirus a week ago and this evening, he succumbed while being treated for complications in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit(ICU). Jaisingh was also being treated for malaria and reports are that he was diabetic.

According to reports, the man’s family members are also in quarantine.

Minister of Public Health, Volda Lawrence

Earlier on Monday evening, Minister of Public Health, Volda Lawrence noted in an update that 8 persons were in the COVID-19 ICU, with one being in a critical state. Jaisingh’s death brings to total number of deaths attributed to the virus, to 5.

Guyana has so far recorded 31 confirmed cases of the dreaded global pandemic.Thus far, 3 persons, who are close relatives of the country’s first victim and who were tested positive for COVID-19, have tested negative following further tests.
