Samples of COVID-19 suspect in Region Six being tested

REGION Six Director of Health Services, Jevaughn Stephens, has confirmed that samples from a remigrant nurse, suspected to have the coronavirus, have been sent for testing.

According to voice note, the remigrant nurse lived in Brooklyn, New York, but would revisit her homeland every six months. It was while she was here, that a sibling died in the US, prompting her to attend the funeral.

However, after returning home, she became ill, and a relative, who was caring for her, was not satisfied after observing that her health was failing.

Two days ago, she called the hotline numbers of the Ministry of Public Health but the call rang out. As a result, contact was made with the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Thereafter, the ambulance and health workers, dressed in protective gear, visited the location.

“I got scared. It is then this thing hit home. I was saying look how these people dress up with face mask, gloves. They protect all over… I did not realise it was a suspected case they came and collect. You know what is scary; she belongs to one of the biggest denomination. A cousin, who stays with her, goes to another large congregation and yet another cousin goes to another congregation. These are three big denominations in New Amsterdam. The fact that they may have come into contact with members are scary. Then a young boy that would be with her, his mother has a hair salon in the market, then the suspect mother lives in Tucber, then there are the folks in the scheme, also her driver who lived in Town Council Scheme… so we are in a mess. They may have to lock down the entire block as another occupant of the house is a fireman. We are in a mess, pray for us. God alone knows,” one observer said.
