Lanya Matthews is a proud Guyanese hailing from the mining town, Linden, living in London, and is preparing to release her first EP.

This 18-year-old is a passionate and driven singer, songwriter, and actor, who in 2018 performed on the X-factor, reaching the six chair challenge and in 2019 sang at the Tottenham Hotspur Opening Ceremony; among other things.
“Being brought up in a single parent Guyanese household, guided by the principles of staying focused and avidly pursuing my dreams whilst maintaining my integrity, my mother, Neachelle Wyatt Bruce took my sister and I home annually to see our family based mainly on Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden to experience the rich culture which can only be found in Guyana. I carry this pride with me wherever I go,” Matthews said.

She told ‘The Buzz’, “I am about to release my first EP entitled Lifeline and would love to share my story to encourage other young people. This project is the ray of light at the end of the tunnel to help guide young minds like myself, out of and through blinding circumstances.”
