THE next 10 years will result in revolutionary development, Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan, assured scores of residents from West, North and South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, during a community meeting on Saturday night.

“The coalition under President David Arthur Granger will continue to work for all… Look at what the government has done for your community and know that we will do even more,” he told the residents.

Pointing to the newly-constructed and rehabilitated roads across the country, the installation of street lights, establishment of water treatment systems and the construction of multimillion-dollar bridges, Minister Jordan told the residents that greater development is in store for the people of Guyana under the A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Government.

He outlined plans for the Linden to Lethem Road, Ogle to Soesdyke By-Pass Road, bridges across the Demerara and Corentyne Rivers, and a state-of-the-art poly clinic to serve Festival City, South Ruimveldt and the surrounding communities.

Minister Jordan disclosed that a special package of salaries and incentives is being worked on for the joint services, similar to that which teachers and nurses have benefitted from. He posited that the Opposition’s promised bonuses could not compare to the steady salary increases experienced under the APNU+AFC Administration. This will be beneficial in the long run since pensions would be based on increased salaries and not one-off bonuses.
Describing the coalition as an all-inclusive administration, he pointed to the formation of the Social Cohesion Ministry and its work to unite all regardless of ethnicity or political affiliation.

In closing, Minister Jordan reminded attendees to vote early and to assist others to travel to cast their ballots, if necessary. (DPI)
